It has a built-in ATSC tuner that pulls HD signals right from the airwaves (via an optional antenna), and its QAM tuner is fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming. This set features Sharp's proprietary Advanced Super View (ASV) LCD panel technology, which uses an enhanced color filter that permits more light throughput. The screen also offers a low-reflection coating to reduce the effect of sunlight and interior lighting to provide vivid large-screen pictures wherever you install your LCD television.
The LC26DV20U delivers a true 1366 x 768-pixel HDTV resolution (capable of displaying 1080i and 720p high-definition signals), and it also features a wide 170-degree viewing angle, 450 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating--perfect for viewing colorful details in even direct sunlight--12ms (millisecond) response time, and 800:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.)

HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

There have been some reviews that stated the Audio is poor. I do not agree and wonder if they realized the continued scroll down choices for enhanced audio selections. Another negative that I read was that some have stated the DVD player doesn't play certain discs. This too is not the case, the DVD player played +R +RW as well as -R and -RW discs. it was very to set-up and now we receive about three times the amount of channels. watching shows in HD is so much nicer and watching letterboxed films on dvd looks fantastic. we managed to purchase this tv right when it was discontinued for half-off. it was a total bargain and we're very happy with it.
Rating:  - DVD Player failed
I would have given this TV 4 stars until a few days ago, when the DVD player failed, 10 months after purchase. Sharp will pay for replacement parts but I will have to pay for labor -- basically a blank check. It is really rare to find an electronic product nowadays that fails so quickly, and consumer magazines always say to reject extended warranties. I thought I could rely on that famous Japanese quality but now that everything is made in China, I guess not. I think all-in-ones are great space ... Read More
