Editorial Review: The provocative Cyd Charisse danced her way into our hearts with the great Gene Kelly in "Brigadoon." Now let her introduce you to some of her favorite, classic Hollywood musicals. Before each film, Cyd will share her personal thoughts and give you the inside scoop with little known facts about the movies and their stylish stars. 3-Video Boxed Set: 1. A CHANGE OF HEART (Susan Hayward, John Carroll, Eve Arden) - Composer Jule Styne scores this charming, music-filled comedy about a young songwriter who vows revenge when a publisher claims her song for his own. When Jill Wright confronts the lying publisher, he offers her a deal--he'll use his influence to have her songs performed and recorded, but they'll be published under his name. She agrees, planning to go along with his scheme, bide her time, and then expose him when it would be most embarrassing. But familiarity breeds romance instead of contempt, and the relationship bumps and jumps along to the sound of Count Basie and other great bands. Be sure to watch for the hilarious liver pill and jungle, the dynamite song and dance number "Harlem Sandman," and the classic "love" scene in which Hayward and Carroll get all kinds of advice form their consciences. 2. THE FABULOUS DORSEYS - This musical tells the story of the Dorseys rise from a coal mining town in PA to the top of the music industry. It's time to strike up the band and swing to famous Dorsey hits like "Marie" and "Green Eyes." 3. SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT (James Cagney, William Frawley, Evelyn Daw) Cagney combines gangster and msuician as bandleader and Hollywood "wannabe" Terry Rooney. Rooney is spotted on a New York stage by an agent (Frawley, best known as Fred Mertz on "I Love Lucy") who lures him to Hollywood. There, the star-making machinery tries to take hold, changing his hair, clothes, speech, and acting style. Rooney puts up with some changes, but when a practical joke during a fight scene goes wrong, he figures he's finished in Tinseltown.
