Editorial Review: Nearly 25 years after its formation, Megadeth is making its most brilliant work, a feat that some acts find unthinkable--maybe impossible--after half that time. When Mustaine sings about politics it's never in the abstract, faraway sense; his lyrics are riddled with references to the here and now--the boundaries and bombs that make the threat of war--or the threat of doom-- real. So it's no real surprise that this release features lyrics liberally peppered with references to Afghanistan, 9/11, NATO and the like. Of course, no one buys a record or a ticket to a show specifically to hear five-minute polemics and that's where Mustaine's real talent--a talent for creating ear-perking riffs and solid, carefully constructed songs--comes in. The album may require that you read the newspaper on a regular basis but it also allows you to let loose with abandon and excitement. "Never Alone... a Call to Arms," "Gears of War" and "Play for Blood" are remarkable because they recall the classic metal of Judas Priest, Diamond Head, and the like and prove that there's nothing quite like an overdriven boogie-based riff to excite the most primitive impulses in the listener. Mustaine makes a bid for commercial radio by revisiting Youthanasia's "A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)" with Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia. It's his most emotionally honest vocal performance to date and one that will no doubt finally earn him wider critical recognition. --Jedd Beaudoin
"United Abominations" is an album that throws back to the sound and energy of classic albums. With songs like "Washington Is Next!" and "Amerikhastan" it is a commentary on today's tumultuous world and the United Nations.

Rating: - Metallica Sucks! Long live Megadeth!!!
Four stars? Are you serious? Dave Mustaine is the father of thrash metal. Metallica owes all their success to Dave Mustaine. It's just too bad that he will never recieve the credit he deserves. Let's face it, Metallica hasn't put out a decent album in almost 20 years. Their first three albums are considered their best and guess what, they were all heavily influenced by Dave Mustaine. In fact, Dave wrote a lot of the songs on the first two Metallica albums. United Abominations is old school Megadeth, ... Read More
Rating: - Another Step In The Right Direction
I see this album compared to its predecessor, The System Has Failed, more often than not. Personally, I can't hear the similarities. The System Has Failed had some really inspired tracks with some great solos by both Mustaine and Poland. Untied Abominations on the other hands has only a few good songs and a few good solos from Mustaine and Glen Drover. Shawn Drover sounds stiff and out of place to me, but others appear to dig him so maybe I'm the black sheep of the Megafans.

Rating: - Metal Bliss
Definitely a return to form. Megadeth in my opinion has been fairly consistant with what Dave Mustaine writes. The recent Album offers the listener what Megadeth should sound like 25+ plus years since Dave has been in the business. Smart, and witty lyrics, heavy guitar riffs and ripping guitar solos reminicent of 80's style. Each song has it various qualities, all excellent. Highly recommended.
Rating: - System has failed II
This album should have been called The System Has Failed 2. It is almost the same sounding album as United Abominations. But thats ok compared to Risk and Cryptic Writings. This is a good string of albums since The world needs a hero.
Rating: - good metal
this is definately thier best album since so far so good so what. the vocals are much better than on some of thier alblums. and of course the awsome guitar playing they are known for.
