Rating: - eMachine...the nightmare of ownership
Thinking about buying an eMachine? Think again and run, don't walk, away as fast as you can. Around 6 months old, the computer died. Called eMachines (no toll free number either) and they told me to take it to BestBuy for service. They sent it off and replaced the defective hard drive. Lost all my pictures, address book, favorites etc. Picked it up two weeks later and it ran but slowly. Rating: - Would be great but Bill Gates had to ruin the party as usual.
I got mine at Walmart. The LCD is surprisingly good and even has reset button that you only need to press once to fix everything.
I didn't like was that the LCD connector is a poor fit, and the monitor goes out with just a touch. It's hard to tell if I have the connector attatched well because the monitor seems to stay off regardless whether you have it pushed in all the way or not but it does come back on if you hit the keyboard, so it's a tiny bit of gymnastics.
