Editorial Review: Monster Magnet once again proves that it's one of heavy rock's most reliable units with 4-Way Diablo, a recording that demonstrates the New Jersey outfit's remarkable diversity and its unstoppable drive. The opening, titular cut, "Wall of Fire," and "Cyclone" (which recalls Black Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell") serve as perfect and powerful Monster Magnet primers. The Latin-tinged "You're Alive," the quiet closer "Little Bag of Gloom," and the (early) Def Leppard-esque "I'm Calling You" speak to the group's ability to traverse from light to dark and everywhere in between with ease. A patina of psychedelia sound still hovers here, suggesting that quartet will never betray its roots. Of course, 4-Way Diablo doesn't add up to a classic album--the same eclecticism that stands as its greatest strength is also often a weakness--but it does remain one of the better hard rock releases this year and it will stand as a testament to Monster Magnet's enduring nature and willingness to boldly strike forth into new territory rather than staying on an outdated and mundane course. --Jedd Beaudoin
Dave Wyndorf and company roar back into action with a brand new slab of pure rock perfection. 4-Way Diablo features 12 Wyndorf-penned compositions plus a masterful cover of the Rolling Stones classic "2000 Light Years From Home." Monster Magnet holds endless credibility among fans and critics and they always deliver the goods... this is no exception! Simply put, this is an amazing rock and roll record from one of the very best in the genre!

Rating: - What is this band's boggle?
I don't know but I like it. These guys are insane and I want to share that insanity with them through their jams. On a never-ending quest to find new music, I just came across Monster Magnet a few days ago. I have just been listening to their offering and I have to say that I am quite taken by their sense of weirdness and their ability to express that with a hard psychedelic romp. Me likee!
Rating: - Excellent work.
They are back in form. Moody, bluesy, sage, and spacey. Arguably their strongest work to date.
Rating: - This Magnet is a Monster
In my opinion this is one more great CD from this band, I heard some Monster Magnet's songs years ago... I didn't (wrongly) search more of this great band... I recently done it, finding it to be really exciting. This band rocks!!!... I can't hardly mention another band as powerfull as this one... It's even hardier to explain how bands like Limp Bizkit could get during a time more attention from the people... well... I'm not here to answers that kinf of questions... I just want to say, this Monster ... Read More

The 70's rockers are back...
"Cyclone" hooked me..."your soul can blow me away". This song has all the Sabbath power chords, space echo, cool lyrics, and feedback you need to get though life.
Cyclone, A Thousand Stars, and Solid Gold are Monster Magnet masterpieces, period. Without commenting on every song, I'll just say tracks 1,2,13 are a little weak. Tracks 3-12 overall are strong. Buy it.
Rating: - Monster Magnet - '4-Way Diablo' (SPV) 4 1/2 stars
In my humble opinion, this latest effort from Dave Wyndorf and crew is every bit as potent as their 'Monolithic Baby' or 'Powertrip' discs. Just shows us all how much we can depend on Monster Magnet to pen out such killer heavy space rock. Tracks that had me playing this CD over many times were the in-your-face "Wall Of Fire", "You're Alive", "Cyclops", their good Stones cover "2000 Lightyears From Home", the (almost) ballad -{?} "I'm Calling You" and the total *ss-kicking "A Thousand Years".
