This game will not work with my high end machine with Windows 7 installed. confirmed by Ubisoft that it was not made to work with W7, so unable to give a review of the game.

If you like your trading/RTS games, this game is fantastic. I've never spent so many hours on this type of game since Railroad Tycoon 2 and Industry Giant II. Great graphics, sound and addictive game play. This game is deep. Just wish there was a decent manual for it.

Dear All,
I had never played Anno series before, but during my last holidays I saw this game and was curiose to find out how is was. I confess for someone who likes strategy games this is a must, although in a slight different pace as it turns more to the economic aspects of running a civilization.
Nevertheless what made me write this review was the fact that the game with the title Anno 1404 (PC) also runs on Vista and not only in XP as announced. You don't need to buy ... Read More

I bought this February 2010. Ubisoft may have listened to the critics. The version shipped to me loaded and ran without needing Tages DRM, but had reverted to conventional loading from disk (disk then needed in drive to run).
On first installation had a bit of delay while waiting for automatic download of a couple of fairly substantial patches from Ubisoft but the game has so far proved absolutely stable and bug free. I am running it under Windows 7 with Nvidia Gforce 6800.

If you buy the retail edition of this game, install it and then install the game patch 1.1 before running it, it removes the drm. Also, friends have indicated that their game autopatched and as a result no more drm issues and the game can be played without the disc etc once patched
