Rating: out of 5 stars - 4.5 stars, but rounded to 4 for Amazon. Good story. Good ending.
I felt happy after reading it. It put me in a good mood. I liked the heroine. There was a twist that I hadn't expected. The separation after they got together was well done. Bel leaves him and I was glad, cheering her on. For many romance novels, I am disappointed in how the author separates the lovers. It's a treat when I agree with the reasons one of the lovers leaves.

Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: six. Setting: 1814 London. Copyright: 2000. Genre: regency romance.

To date there are seven books in the Knight family series, of which I have read six, as follows. My review for His Wicked Kiss was posted to Amazon on 2/6/07. All the rest are posted on 5/26/08.
The Duke (4.5 stars)
Lord of Fire (2 stars)
Lord of Ice (3.5 stars)
Lady of Desire (4.5 stars)
Devil Takes a Bride (2 stars)
His Wicked Kiss (3 stars)

Rating: out of 5 stars - Wonderful Historical Romance
I enjoyed reading this book, though it did take awhile to get the characters set up, it was well worth reading. After it finally got going, I couldn't put it down. There is some suspense, trickery and a nice romance. This book reminded me (alittle) of the movie Pretty Woman, but in historical time period.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Rags to Riches....
This is one of those books that I started reading and just didn't stop till it was done. It was excellent.

I knew before I started to read this book that the heroine was a courtesean. I didn't know what to think of this idea, but after meeting Belinda and learning of the circumstances that led her to the decision to become a courtesan, all my questions disappeared. Belinda's character was really wonderful. A perfect combination of sweetness, sass, and loyalty/devotion.

Robert Knight, the Duke of Hawkscliffe, was an exceptional hero, and the dialogue and sexual tension that exists between these two individuals from the moment they meet is tangible. This man is the feircely loyal, dedicated eldest of his family and was responsible for raising his younger siblings. He is so good to Belinda, and never treats her like anything but a lady. He sees beyond her place in society and falls deeply in love with her vowing to protect her. It really is quite romantic.

This book is in the same vein as movies such as "Pretty Woman and Dangerous Beauty", two of my favorite movies ever. I would highly recommend the book for the same reasons that I would recommend the movies just listed. All focus on the idea that sometimes life isn't fair and deals a woman a difficult hand, but true love knows no boundries and the men who love them...REALLY love them.

Rating: out of 5 stars - My first romance written by this author...not impressed.
I don't think I'll pick up another one of this author's books. There is a great lack of chemistry between the characters and annoying traits in both of them. Plot was just ok. She could have made these characters, even the villians, pawns of more substance. Greatly lacking in character development, plot and romance. I skimmed a lot of her boring descriptions because they had nothing to do with the story and really added nothing but words and pages to the book. Don't waste your time. I'm astonished at the number of 5 sTar reviews. Try Judith McNaught (Whitney My Love and Until You) or Johanna Lindsey's, Man of My Dreams If you want good regency romance...not this fluff. Blech.

Rating: out of 5 stars - AMAZING!!
This was my first Gaelen Foley book and I could not put it down. I read it in two days! I can not wait to read Lord of Fire and Lord of Ice! Easy read and great love story. I laughed, I cried, what more do you want in a great romance!!
