Rating:  - Best study tool for the OT exam
I used this, the NBCOT study guide, and the OT Review and Study Guide from International Educational Resources to study for my exam. This was by far the most effective tool to study with. The questions were similar to the ones on the exam, and the explanation of the answers was thorough. I passed! I recommend this book!
Rating:  - 1/3 of questions poorly written
I have not taken the exam yet so I am uncertain as to how the questions actually compare. Although I can hope the questions on the exam are better than the book because about a 1/3 of the book questions are very ambigous. It is obvious the writer had a idea in his/her head so the answer would be clear but the question was not written in certain terms, for example.. an activity group for parkinson patients question will not tell you the level of current impairment or is the activity standing or sitting..how can I truly answer the question correctly without knowing the facts another example... how to circumvent a 2" threshold to a adjoining room... ok well is this a actual room height difference or is it a rubber door stop? I would answer the question differently if I knew what the writer meant. I am missing alot of questions off of unclearly written quearies and all I can hope is the actual exam is not like this. However I will note that there are some questions that provide good insight and explain in the answer section why the answer is correct.

the types of questions in this book were very similar to those on the exam...i would definitely suggest it...i just found out last week that i passed!
Rating: - Great Book
Just took my exam a month ago and this was then only book I purchased. I would recommend this book to anyone who is preparing for the NBCOT exam. The CD in the back of the book is nice to have, but I found the book itself to work better.

I just thought I'd let future customers know that this book has some of the same questions as the second edition, not all though, so I think it's worth the investment. I have both and have found both to be helpful. I haven't used the CDs because I acquired the books from friends who lost the CDs, but the books are great. I haven't taken the test yet, but highly recommend these books from my experience so far.
