Rating: out of 5 stars - Expectations
While I enjoyed this volume I was disappointed that it was not as good as Celtic Woman. Maybe when I listen to it again I might change my view.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Celtic Woman Vol. 1
Fabulous traditional Irish songs by young women who have the voices of angels and the instrumental talents which make this a treasure.

My girlfriend and I love the Celtic Woman CD!

Rating: out of 5 stars - Celtic Soul Emerging From Women Voices!
While I was attending a course in England in 1996 I spent a weekend at Wales and was captivated by Celtic rhythms, music and poetry.
Still being at the UK I bought some CDs just to get more acquainted with this gorgeous music. Two of them remains as my favorite ones "Celtic Woman" and "Celtic Moods", both of them gives the listeners a general picture of what's up.

"Celtic Woman" (1996) should not be confounded the DVD & CDs of the same name that were released later in the USA.
Here we have seven exceptional interpreters which contribute with one or two songs each from their previous albums.

Canadian singer Loreena McKennitt gives the beautiful & sad ballad "Annachie Gordon" with her characteristic poignant and deep voice.

Irish singer Rita Connolly sings "Venezuela" and "Ripples in the Rockpools". This last one is just extraordinary. It is an irate piece of music from a legendary pirate queen menacing to leave her husband. The repetition of three verses gives the composition a very special cadence.

Very young (at that moment) and blond Marian Bradfield gives her best with the romantic & enticing ballad "Tonight is Just for Us".

Dubliner Melanie O'Reilly performs "Annie Moore" dedicated to the first immigrant to arrive to Ellis Island NY.

Last but not least "Trees" from Fiona Joyce is an unforgettable mystic song.

Enjoy this introductory album to the joys of Celtic music!
