Editorial Review: Written for first- and second-year medical students and beginning graduate students, this text provides a concise review of clinically relevant aspects of kidney function. The content of the book was derived from a well-received series of lectures for first-year medical students and represents the core material required for success on board exams and in clinical rotations. To help students focus their efforts, the authors have selected the most clinically relevant facts and concepts from the vast body of current knowledge on renal physiology and pathophysiology. Clinical Considerations paragraphs appear throughout the text to emphasize the connection between physiology and disease. More than 100 illustrations clarify key concepts and aid in retention of material. Multiple-choice study questions with annotated answers appear at the end of the book. Also included is a list of major textbooks on renal physiology and pathophysiology for supplementary reading.
