Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The ultimate review source is an understatement. The book is a real deal.
I have the Fourth Edition 2001 and it is voluminous enough. Aside from few humorous, multiple-choice questions, of poor taste, the book is very well designed. Each subject is served with 10 to 20 or so questions, followed by a short management problem. The answers to the questions are all well-referenced to credible medical authorities, such as the CDC, WHO, and the like.

The most noticeable aspect of the book is the confidence of its authors in reasoning with the reader with regard ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent review, even if you are not a family doctor
I felt the need to review general medicine, and this book gives you a good dose of it. What I like is the frequent use of tradename of drugs in conjunction with generic names. I am tired of going to cme courses where lectors are forbidden to use tradenames. Then you wonder what drugs are your patients using. In real life, you have less than 10 minutes to see a patient, and not enough time to look up every drug you run across. So you can save yourself alot of time by only reading cme's that has ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - PANCE
This book was recommended to me by another Physician Assistant. I used it to study for the Physician Assistant Certification exam. The book provided very detailed information on each topic through case studies which always helps me to remember information better. I do recommend it to any PA preparing for the PANCE.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Swanson's not up to par review
I did not think this book lived up to its reviews. It was not an accurate reflection of questions on the exam. The explanations of the answers were not always correct and I discovered too many editorial errors.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Decent for boards.
Provids good review of pertinent topics and information on FM boards. Questions are similar to true board exam. Most topics are very uptodate, but a few have become out of date already. Very little inaccuracies. Editing for this book is lacking. Questions often worded poorly, given wrong answer but right explanation, or occasionally just totally off the mark. The frequency was great enough to be frustrating when practicing.
