Editorial Review:These flashcards will help medical students organize and recall medical microbiology information for course exams and USMLE Step 1. Each card catalogues a medically important micro-organism, detailing its clinical presentation, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment.

I have many sets of flash cards for Medical school. The Lange series by McGraw Hill are by far my favorite. These are ok. Better than most, but not the best. The set-up and organization of the cards is my biggest complaint. They just seem very disorganized. I'd rather have 1 card that lists all the info needed for a single organism. this set jumps around and organizes the cards by facts or topic, not organisms. Could work for some, but I didn't use them as much as I hoped.

These cards are well put together and are loaded with information (with hopefully enough space to add to because they can never have everything you want to on a card), but there is too much on each card to really use as flash cards. They are more like a book in the form of a set of cards.
Use Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple! It a great book to learn this material with!

If you're looking for almost everything you need about the most important pathogens in 2nd year med school, this is it. Most essential info is given, if not, there is definately room to add whatever you'd like. The case-presentations on the front of the cards are good too. Great idea once you have them- have it bound at Kinkos with a spiral binding, etc- great on-the-go review.

These cards are fantastic! They have everything you need to know presented in a clear format for each individual bug then diagram cards to pull all of the bugs together. No catchy memory devices, but they have been my main study tool for both my microbiology class and USMLE. The clinical cases on the front of each card are also great for boards study and you don't find that on many other high yield sources.

Great detailed cards. I am currently studying for the boards and think that the vignettes on each card is extremely helpful in putting the microbiology into clinical context. The cards do take a serious time requirement and I would recommend pulling out the more high yield organisms to accelerate your review closer to the test date.
