This is a powerful and unique movie. It touches deeply and lastingly.
I saw this movie when I was a boy, and never forgot it, (though I could
not remember its name.) It was such an engaging, charming, and sensitive movie, I was very affected by it.
I recently found this movie at the local library, and truly rejoiced when I did. It brought back memories of that movie I had always somewhat remembered watching when I was a boy.

Rating: - an absolutely wonderful family movie
I saw this movie in the theatre when it first came out in the 1970's and have loved it ever since. The music is hauntingly beautiful and the story heart-warming. If only it would come out on DVD!

i've always loved this movie used to see it on a&e years ago.almost all of the actors were just kids from school witch was amazing for the caliber of performance they gave.very touching story the whole thing is an excellent piece of americana why they won,t put it on dvd i'll never figure out there was also one called (the trap)with oliver reed witch aired the same time thats not availible but a great flick

I dearly love this movie I can relate to alot of the things in the movie, I was brought up in the country and did some of the same things these kids did, I have watched it with my grandkids and they love it also, and ask me Grandma did you really do some of these things, this is one of the best altime movie's that has been around for a long time, childhood memories in all parts of this movie I love all of it, wonderful stuff, i hope they make more like this.

Personally I thought that this was a horrible movie! I thought the story was good, but the acting was TERRIBLE! It was SO not believable! We did this play for our fall drama, I was Mary Call, and we were SOOO much better. The only actor(actress) who was good at all was the girl who played Mary Call. The others were just really bad! I'm sorry but I definitely don't recommend it unless you are performing it and need some morale boosters...
